Wine
Henschke Hill of Roses pays tribute to Johann Gottlieb Rosenzweig ('rose twig' in German), part of the early Barossa Lutheran community to settle in the Eden Valley.
The wine is sourced from a small patch of vines on the famed Hill of Grace Vineyard known as the Post Office Block. It grows under the watchful eye of the ruins of the historic Parrot Hill Post Office.
The vines were planted as a nursery block in 1989. They are low yielding, dry grown and managed using organic and biodynamic practices.
After fermentation, the wine is matured for 18 months in French and American oak hogsheads, around one quarter new.
Bright garnet, Henschke Hill of Roses has a concentrated core of red fruit flavours layered with dark berries, velvety tannins and a long finish.
An elegant, textural wine. Cellaring potential is 30 years.
